WALON RENEW PROTON CONTRACT

1 February 2007

Automotive logistics specialist Walon UK has announced the renewal of its long standing contact with Malaysian manufacturer Proton, to handle the storage, preparation, enhancement and distribution of Proton cars at The Royal Portbury Docks, near Bristol.

Walon, part of the AutoLogic Group, has been responsible for the distribution of Proton cars to dealerships throughout the UK for the last 14 years and the renewal of the contract for further year is a testament to the continuing strength of the partnership between the two companies.

An average of 4,000 new Proton vehicles arrive at Portbury Dock from Malaysia each year to be stored and prepared for the UK market by Walon at its West Dock site, under the senior operational management of Steve Cross.

Steve Cross commented, "We are delighted we have extended the contract with Proton as we have developed a close working partnership with their logistics team during our 14 year partnership. The contract has continued to grow and Walon now provides a comprehensive service of storage, preparation and enhancement across the whole Proton model range. We then complete the supply chain with distribution of finished vehicles to Proton’s dealer network throughout the UK.”
