Automotive logistics specialist Walon UK is celebrating a highly successful 1st anniversary of its vehicle storage and refurbishment centre in Corby, which it runs on behalf of General Motors (GM), which has exceeded all targets and processed over 32,000 vehicles throughout the year.

The 35 acres specialist centre was launched in September 2005 and is the largest and most advanced storage and refurbishment centre in the UK.  The £3 million operation provides the refurbishment of GMs ex-company and company fleet Vauxhall, Saab and Chevrolet vehicles, which once refurbished, are remarketed via the manufacturers’ approved vehicle programmes, such as ‘Network Q’.

To commemorate the 1st anniversary, Bill Parfitt, Managing Director of Vauxhall Motors Ltd and Executive Director, GM UK & Ireland & GME Fleet, (pictured left) visited the operation to personally thank Walon’s 100 employees for having exceeded GM’s first year targets.

Throughout the year Walon has achieved considerable growth in both the quality and performance of the operation and has put over 17,000 vehicles through the state-of-the-art bodyshops and despatched over 32,000 vehicles to GM’s approved retail outlets.

Walon believes the Centre has achieved the high levels of performance due to the quality of its staff and high levels of staff retention, together with the introduction of the enhancement technology such as the latest Smart Repair systems, which have significantly improved speed and efficiency of vehicle repair.

Walon’s Technical Services Managing Director Steve Berry said, “Our Corby team has worked hard to ensure we offer the highest standards of productivity, refurbishment lead times and quality of service for GM.  We have developed a tremendous team spirit within the operation and we are committed to exceeding the very high standards GM sets for its used vehicle fleet.”

Mike Brown, GM’s Used Vehicle Sales, Marketing and Operations Director said, “We have worked closely with Walon’s team to ensure the operation achieves class leading performance and its success has helped enhance the high quality of our used vehicle fleet and improved our customer satisfaction ratings.” [an error occurred while processing this directive]
